Domestic Manufacturing
USFMA is an advocate for legislation that bolsters U.S. domestic manufacturing and the domestic manufacturing workforce.
Made in America Manufacturing Communities Act
USFMA supports the passage of H.R. 6760, Made in America Manufacturing Communities Act, which provides additional private-public partnerships to create well paying manufacturing jobs in regions across the U.S.
As part of the manufacturing community, USFMA support cultivating a strong environment for business and fostering critical workforce skills, research and development opportunities and addressing small business concerns. Additional investment in equipment and facilities upgrades will support the growing U.S. domestic manufacturing workforce.
Reinforcing American Made Products Act
USFMA supports the passage of H.R. 5474, Reinforcing American-Made Products Act, that would supersede any state Made in USA labeling laws and create a Federal Trade Commission standard nationwide. The purpose of this bill is to strengthen American manufacturing by creating a singular Made in the USA labeling standard.
Current Made in the USA products face an assortment of state labeling laws, which places an undue burden on manufacturers to ensure that their products meet all standards across the U.S and makes them vulnerable to litigation. The Reinforcing American-Made Products Act would eliminate confusion on the standard for Made in the USA labeling and protect American manufacturers.
Bipartisan Innovations Act
USFMA supports the inclusion of key provisions in the House-passed America COMPETES Act into the final Bipartisan Innovations Act. USFMA believes in supporting a robust domestic manufacturing base that is vulnerable to imports.
USFMA strongly support the House Provision to eliminate finished products in future rounds of the Miscellaneous Tariff Bill (MTB) process, the inclusion of the House Provision on closing a number of so-called De Minimis loopholes, and House and Senate Provisions to strengthen the eligibility criteria for the General Systems of Preference (GSP) program.
